Zone Rep Report July 2016

Liz ShawIn the Zone by Liz Shaw

Hello Zone 9ers,

As promised, I attended Intermountain Region’s Amazing Rally in Salt Lake City. Rich Sanders and his team did another amazing job with the rally. I was the navigator in the Boxster of Intermountain Region’s Newsletter Editor, Jeremy Rosenberger. We were assigned to be the sweeper car and our job was pretty easy. We managed to answer all of the questions (and most of them correctly!) but we did a mediocre job with the challenges. How was anyone able to catch a plastic liter bottle launched into the next county?? The weather was windy but at least the rain stopped before the rally began, which was at the Shriner’s Hospital for Children (and the designated charity for the rally). Dinner afterward was at the Porsche of Salt Lake dealership and the food was excellent. My trip was short but a lot of fun packed into one day.

I didn’t make it to Lubbock to join West Texas Region for their drive to Sweetwater, TX, for the events at the WASP Museum (airshow, guest speakers at the luncheon and dinner, etc.) but judging from the photos that WTR President, Wil Carter, sent to me, it looks like the PCA members had a great time. Memorial Day weekend just got too busy for me.

The first Saturday in June, I joined several Llano Estacado Region members for their monthly breakfast at Furr’s Cafeteria in Amarillo. We were pleased that Larry G. from WTR made the drive from Lubbock to have breakfast with us. And it’s always great to catch up with the LLE members.

By the time you read this article, Parade @ Jay Peak, VT, will be history. I’ll have a full report and photos for the August article.

Before I sign off, I want to remind everyone to get out and travel around Zone 9 to participate in any of the events hosted by our 7 Regions and vie for the coveted Zone 9 Challenge trophy. I’ve listed some upcoming events in July and August and be sure to check the Region websites for details and updates.

See you around the Zone!
