Zone Rep Report May 2016

Liz ShawIn the Zone by Liz Shaw

Hello Zone 9ers,

Hard to believe we’re already well into the second quarter of 2016. As far as PCA is concerned, it’s business as usual – lots of activity going on with all of the Zone 9 Regions. I attended the RMR New Member Social in March and I was very impressed with the organization and level of participation by the Region leadership. The party was held at the Man Cave in Westminster, CO, and there were several tables set up with printed material and pictures of the various events. There was also a food drive, where non-perishables and cash were collected. Everyone enjoyed pizza and drinks for lunch and throughout the event, ticket numbers were drawn for door prizes. It was great to see lots of seasoned RMR members, as well as to meet several new members. I’m sure RMR will see many of the new members at their upcoming events.

During the first Saturday in April, Roadrunner Region’s local dealership, Porsche of Albuquerque, hosted an unveiling of the new 911 Carrera S. It was quite the fancy party and one of the treats outside (besides the chocolate truffles) was a line-up of historical 911’s, including a 50th PCA Anniversary Club Coupe. Inside the showroom, we saw a 60th PCA Anniversary edition 911 GTS Club Coupe belonging to Roadrunner member, Tom Linton. The evening’s guest speaker was Bruce Phillips, “a 911 resident expert”. Bruce gave an interesting talk, describing the featured historical 911’s, and then he pointed out the design features of the new 911. I’ve attended some of Bruce’s tech sessions in the past and I always learn a lot from him.

A couple of days after the event at Porsche of Albuquerque, event registration opened up for this year’s Parade in Jay Peak, VT. I know that the majority of Zone 9 members will not be attending Parade this year, but I hope they’ll visit the PCA website and Facebook for regular updates.

And speaking of event registration, be sure to watch for an announcement from PCA for when Treffen Lake Tahoe will open up for registration. That should happen sometime in May.

Hope to see several Zone 9 members soon!
