Zone Rep Report April 2016

Liz ShawIn the Zone by Liz Shaw

Hello Zone 9ers,

February in Roadrunner Region means Frostbite Series! The first autocross of the year was held in early February and then the second one was held on February 27th at a parking lot adjacent to the Route 66 Casino, west of Albuquerque. Vance Bass and his team set up a challenging technical course, which is typical of this venue because of the small lot size. I wasn’t able to drive my car in the autocross because of prior commitments but I did get to see the two groups go through their laps. Everyone seemed to be having a good time and I expect the afternoon sessions went well. Thanks to RR photographer, Phil Ganderton, for the excellent photos.

The following weekend, I joined some PCA members and several other sports car aficionados for a Cars & Coffee at the Four Seasons Resort Rancho Encantado, northwest of Santa Fe. This was a casual gathering at the resort on the first Saturday of each month and it was great to see some old friends and meet some new ones. When I got to the resort, there were several cars parked near the front doors, including three Acura NSXes, some Corvettes, a beautifully restored red MG, and an old Range Rover. Hopefully, I’ll be able to attend this Cars & Coffee more often since it’s just outside of Santa Fe.

This was a short write-up for April and by the time I write May’s report, I should have more Region events to report. I’m still planning to go to the RMR New Member Social and I’ll probably head to Intermountain Region in April.

Hope to see several Zone 9 members soon!
